And the streak continues

UK Athletics

@UKFootball

@UKFootball

The now 29-year losing streak continues as the Cats fall to the Gators 14-9. Three field goals were not enough to snap one of the longest losing streaks in college football. Stick around for more postgame coverage and KSR Postgame show.

Until next year Florida.

      Then we are exactly where we are now. Stuck with a mediocre QB.

      But what if he plays better in big games?

      Wont know until we give him a shot and we wont win big games on a consistent basis with a mediocre QB.

      Then what? then were right back to here. You wont know truly until you put barker in. Shit, even the Ol Ball Coach probably wishes he went with Perry Orth from the get-go last week.

      Barker is a Freshman. Towles is a Junior. Not only that, Towles is a Junior who has not improved since last season. Barker has more upside. Put him in and let him take his licks. He can’t be much worse… QB’s are supposed to be able to throw the ball. That’s why we run so much. Dawson knows Towles can’t hit the broad side of a barn.

      Uhh, not even close. Tom Brady knows how to get rid of the football when his OL breaks down instead of panicking. But, I agree that our OL is just pathetic. Schlarman should be fired effective immediately.

    That was a poor, uninspired effort by the offensive line and the offensive coordinator.

    That still looked like old school Kentucky Football to me.

    And yes … bring on Drew Barker … or any quarterback that will throw the ball away instead of meandering sideways and backwards before taking a sack.

    The Defense played really well holding them to no points in the 2nd half. Our offense was so close yet so far. Dropped TD pass by Dorian, 2 trips to the endzone with no TDs. Get those and we win.

  17. TDog
    11:03 pm September 19, 2015 Permalink

    People saying get rid of Patrick are crazy. He took a bad sack, but we would have very easily won the game if his passes were caught. There were two or three huge right on the numbers drops, that if caught, the game goes our way. We are still 2-1 and going to play a Mizzou team that just beat UConn 9-6. It’s not the end of the world.

    PT missed open guys consistently, when he did hit them they were dropped half the time. The defense deserves major props for keeping us in a position to win the game with under a minute left. I support patrick more than anyone, but he has to be much better than that or we will not improve on last years 5-7

    They HAVE to sit Towles—He cannot make an intermediate pass—that’s why our third down numbers are horrible—his accuracy is terrible in the intermediate—always high or behind the receiver—they HAVE TO sit him! I know Throwboy defends his buddy and that is great, but surely he sees the accuracy issues right?

  23. chief_cat
    11:06 pm September 19, 2015 Permalink

    When in the world will we see Drew Barker. Patrick Towles has had a handful of great plays this season but has mostly missed his targets by overthrowing or underthrowing them. He was rushed a lot but also tends to take too much time getting the ball off. It’s hard to believe that the QB who looked so good at the Elite 11 QB camp continues to ride the pine while our passing game sputters.

    look heres the answer, Don’t completely bench Towles but start Barker next week. Tell the media they’ll both play and go the Florida route. See what Barker can do, but ultimately RUN THE ROCK!!! Give it too Horton and Boom! We could have one of the best running games in the SEC! More screens and outside runs. RUN on 1st down, and all short yardage plays! Thats the answer we are looking for here! nice job defensively overall all night if we can get our RUNNING GAME going and give the Defense a break next week i think well be just fine judging on how awful Mizzou looked today.

      Having great talent at the skill positions means jack without a capable O Line.

      Boom got a ton of touches last night….He had no where to run. I mean NOWHERE.

      Towles is the topic everyone likes focus on, but our O line got absolutely man handled by a MUCH smaller (albeit quicker) D line.

    We’ll get ’em next year. Bullshit. Someone explain to me (again) how Patrick Towles (and his hair) should be starting. He still has “happy feet,” CANNOT make two decent throws in a row, and, well, just SUCKS. Also, how does an offensive coordinator come from WVU playing wide-open ball, get here, and die?

    I love the same old same old from the UK football fan. The defense tonight played great which is encouraging since we thought that was our weakness this year. We have a good football team. The offense had an off game. Don’t get me wrong this game was huge game on many levels, but we have a good team. That is the best defense we will face all year. I’m tired of the typically UK football fan jumping off the bandwagon. That’s what UK football fans are band wagon fans. Get behind this team and get ready for Missouri next week. Quit feeling sorry for yourself because we lost to a good Florida team. Be a UK fan and not a UK basketball fan. Im tired of this bs. It is college football things happen. Honestly, I think a lot of you just don’t understand how football works. If you compare PT to Florida’s QB, they did identically the same. Did Florida’s offense suck? Do they need to go with a different QB? We were practically identical offensively, except we had more issues. (Example: sacks). Our QB performed the same as an SEC QB. We are not gonna win every game, and we are still learning. Do you know what every UK basketball player comments about UK? The fans. It’s always the fans. But hell, by the way you guys just throw players under the bus I’d be surprised if recruits want to come here. Here’s the deal, we are doing better than Louisville. Why the hell are you mad?

  49. Sammydog
    11:58 am September 20, 2015 Permalink

    We are beginning year 3 of a massive commitment of resources to the football program. One does not erase 30 yrs of neglect in 2 yrs. The facilities are in place. A committed high quality coaching staff is in place. We have been successful in upgrading the quality of our recruits particularly in the skilled positions. Where we still fall short is in depth, improved but not SEC yet, in the bread and butter positions in the trenches. Florida had the athletes to control the line of scrimmage and we aren’t there yet. This is what comes last in the building of a football program one player at a time. For the Louisville trolls, it took 35 yrs for Your program to develop. I remember Louisville football when it looked like a mediocre high school team. Now it is a top 20 program in many respects. Now that a commitment has been made it will happen for Kentucky but not overnight. In the big picture, we are just getting started. Get a grip folks and enjoy the ride.
