AJ Rose will Return to Kentucky for Senior Season

A.J. Rose will finish his college career in Lexington.

The UK running back announced on Twitter that he will wear Kentucky blue and white in the fall of 2020.

“The best is yet to come.”

@ajrose_10

In the middle of his redshirt junior season many speculated that he would finish his collegiate career as a grad transfer. Instead of looking elsewhere, Rose finished the season on a high note. If not for a bogus penalty he would have racked up more than 120 yards and a touchdown in the Belk Bowl. He averaged 6.9 yards per carry on only ten attempts against Virginia Tech.

Rose currently ranks fourth in UK history with 5.55 yards per carry. Over the last two seasons he’s racked up more than 1,200 yards while sharing a backfield with Benny Snell and Lynn Bowden. On pace to finish on the top ten of UK’s all-time rushing list, the explosive pass-catching threat out of the backfield will play a significant role in what could be an historic 2020 season.

    It’s not like he had any where else to go unless he was going home.

    We r extremely deep in the back field. I cant wait until the media hates on us and doesnt put us in the top 25. I’m way more excited about the football team next year than I am basketball this year.

    Great new. This is his year to finally make a big name for himself. Stay away from running towards the sidelines and get those extra yards, if he’ll do this and can break a few tackles, he has the speed to have one of the best seasons in UKs history. He’s definitely got the Big guys blocking for him to do it. Hammer down AJ!

      Agree 100%. I think he can also significantly help our program as a leader both on and off the field. Look forward to watching his development and progress along with that of the rest of the team this coming season. Go Cats.

      Probably on the JoJo Kemp trajectory, going from being the featured back to being the inspirational leader of the RB room. Nothing wrong with that. And you can’t have too much depth at that position.

    Why would he leave? Hoping he has a good season.
