What a day. Kentucky football regained plenty of momentum in week two following the disappointing loss to open the season last time out. Mark Stoops and D.J. Eliot had the defense clicking, and Neal Brown unleashed the Air Raid to huge success.
Kentucky poured it on the Redhawks, winning 41-7. The game was a blowout in the first half, but scoring was limited in the latter 30 minutes. The Wildcats offense piled up 675 yards of offense and was highlighted by huge plays from Javess Blue and Jeff Badet.
Penalties were a big issue for the Cats; a total of 11 flags were thrown against the Cats for 117 yards, many of which were the personal foul variety. Another red flag was the special teams, specifically the punt return game. Daryl Collins fumbled deep in UK territory, leading to the only Miami score of the game. Javess Blue replaced Collins later in the game and he had a handful of miscues leading to poor field position for UK.
But the stars of the show were Mark Stoops recruits, including notable performances by Blue, Badet, Ryan Timmons, Jojo Kemp, and Za’Darius Smith.
Nick Roush will be by with more later, and stay tuned for the post-game show coming soon.
