Aerial look at the current state of The New CWS

UK released a July 21 update on the progress of The New CWS this morning with aerial photos from Aerial Innovations of TN & KY. You can check out the entire gallery here.

Things are looking great inside the stadium, but the parking situation looks like a complete mess with only 46 days to get it ready for tailgating.

Alumni Drive looks like a war zone.

KSR will tour the stadium tomorrow and we will have plenty of photos and updates from inside. UK senior associate athletic director Russ Pear will be on hand to answer questions, so we’ll know a lot more about the current state and how it will look during the season opener once we hear from him.

They should have replaced the display boards. These are pretty weak by todays modern stadium standards. I guess the University of Big Bertha likes retro.

Agreed, last year they did a full A / V replacement at Mile High and it’s a completely different game experience (especially if you don’t have good seats).

They replaced the video boards like 2 seasons ago. LOL. These are full HD. Is it Cowboy Stadium? No of course not, but the video boards are absolutely fine. My only wish is that they’d use less space for advertising on them and more for the game action. But that’s a different conversation. These are state of the art man. Find something else to complain about.

Wish they’d do a “soft opening” for season ticket holders so we can find our seats before Game 1.

Getting to the stadium for anybody may be an obstacle course. Got me concerned if I’m honest….but we’ll see.

What a dump. No wonder your team has been the butt cheeks of the SEC for decades.

That field is immaculate. Almost looks like something from a video game. Love it.

No way that is fully completed by Game Day. Weather has not cooperated. But they should have just built a new stadium right next to it. Would’ve screwed parking up for a year, but would’ve been better in the long run.

Having a career in construction management I’d be concerned with the pressbox area being complete. Looks bare and I am sure there are a lot of electrical/communication/HVAC items going on that have prevented any architectural finishing from occurring. Just an observation from the pics…

Really enjoy the new design. Makes the stadium look less stagnant.

Year three of ‘growing our own head coach’ is about to begin.
The fact the parking lots aren’t finished yet, This will not keep the BBN away! No tail gating? Heck, we don’t need to be liquored up to watch the game. Playing a powerhouse? Nope, How many non conference games played in ‘Barnhart’s Debacle’ are there? Watch out, surely you aren’t going to say Louisville is a power house! Thank goodness we are in a conference where a few pass through once a year.

Am I the only person who gets irritated by people who overuse the cliche (“It looked like a war zone!) Just a pet peeve. How many war zones were you in Drew during your time in the military?
