A look at the Air Raid

UK Football Fan Day

SmartFootball.com’s Chris Brown tweeted a link to a little-known blog by a high school defensive coordinator in New Jersey who attended a football camp led by Neal Brown on the Xs and Os of his offense. The blogger, John Bird, provides diagrams of some of the plays you’ll likely find on Kentucky’s new iPads, if you were to go snooping around the offensive playbook.

For example:

PLAY 67

Rules for 67:

A- Check Protection/ Checkdown/ Find Window
X- 6 yd Read Route (Soft=Hitch, Tight=In)
Y- 10 yd Dig
Z- 6 yd Read
H- 4 yd Read
QB- 1 Step Drop

Progression:
Pre Snap= Backside (Take a 1on1 matchup)
Post Snap= Nickel Defender

To learn more about the the reads and progressions in Brown’s Air Raid 2.0 offense, go over to Coach Bird’s blog on Air Raid Offense/Combo Plays.

Enjoy.

That’s great, kind of informative too, but where the hell is the “new” site??!?!?

The only thing that concerns me is when a WR believes he has “tight” coverage and the QB believes he has “soft” coverage…that leads to picks.

@#3 &#6. I think it was either Vince Lombardi or Bear Bryant who said “I can give the other team my play book and if we execute properly, they still can’t stop us.” This is true of most sports. It’s all about execution.

@ 3. and 6. If Nick Saban or Bobby Petrino is reading KSR this morning, we’ve already won the war.

I am with you #7. You think every school that plays BAMA does not know what plays they going to run? Can you stop them, NO. Not saying UK is BAMA by any means but execution is the key.

The dollar sign on the diagram is the ice cream truck they got for the players.

That’s all you need to know.
