Willie Cauley-Stein has dominated so far this season. With his decision to come back for his junior year and further with the success and progress that he has made with his game, could this possibly make certain players rethink the one and done philosophy?
Going into the season with the deep roster, and the implementation of the platoon system, the usual guaranteed minutes of play are not there anymore. With players not getting as much playing time, will they decide that an extra year might raise their NBA value? The recent play of Willie cannot be overlooked. The decision to come back has made him a star.
Former Wildcats such as Marquis Teague and Doron Lamb could have possibly benefited from another year. While they had successful college careers, both are struggling to make an NBA roster. So far in the Callipari era, it has almost been a given that the most sought after players will leave after the first season. Current or future Wildcats may want to look at the success Willie has had from deciding to return for a third year. Although there are players such as John Wall and Anthony Davis that one season is the best decision, others may want to reconsider.
