Wichita State, Gregg Marshall issue statements on allegations of misconduct

By now, you’ve read or heard about the allegations of misconduct facing Wichita State head coach Gregg Marshall. Multiple outlets have reported that Marshall physically and verbally abused his players and staff, punching some in the head and demeaning others with ethnic slurs. This afternoon, both Wichita State and Marshall released statements regarding the allegations.

The university says it is in the process of an independent investigation and has received full cooperation from staff, coaches, current student-athletes, and Marshall, and that for now, team activities will continue as scheduled. Jeff Goodman tweeted Marshall’s response shortly after. You can read it all below, but the Cliffs Notes version is, Marshall admits his coaching style isn’t for everyone, but claims he is not demeaning or abusive without actually denying the reported incidents took place.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall in the Marshall household today…

I am humbled and proud to serve this this university and our community. Now excuse me while I go punch my point guard in the back of his head in order to tap into his greatest potential.

I don’t get the timing of this. 1 media outlet breaks the story, and another immediately says, “yes, us too, we’ve been doing a 6 month investigation.” Why had no one reported anything sooner? Has WS been paying people off?

Also, blah blah blah, deny deny deny. Where have we seen that before?

Just like The Bobby Knight saga, look the other way for 30 yrs as long as your winning more games than the coaches before you.

“Well Lynn, it looks like we’re not in Kansas anymore” said Gregg

Ok, so in today’s society he’s automatically guilty? I’m not trying to defend him at all. There used to be a principle in our system that a person was innocent until proven guilty. I’m wondering if there is some Russian collusion involved in this matter.

Ok, Well maybe I should have done the FIFO (first in first out) method of reading today’s blog posts instead of the LIFO (last in first out) method. There is a earlier post from today that I just read that has seemingly quite a bit of evidence against him.

When did we have innocent until proven guilty? Cops find you running from the bank with money, they arrest you. They don’t say go have a good life until your trial 30 days from now.

That’s why and where your rights to a speedy trial come into play.

You’ve got the saying wrong. You’re not innocent until proven guilty. You’re only presumed innocent. Presumptions are rebuttable. They fall with the slightest of evidence.

And if you’re found not guilty, it doesn’t mean you’re innocent. You understand that, right? So no, you are not innocent until proven guilty.

This isn’t even the criminal justice system, not yet anyway. We’re only looking at a university’s code of conduct and perhaps something in his employment contract. So the saying doesn’t strictly apply.

Look, we don’t know all the facts. But let’s just say I don’t have a hard time believing the accusations against this guy. Is that fair? When a woman files a complaint of sexual assault, I don’t immediately impugn her motive or integrity, There’s likely a good reason for her actions. People don’t usually makes these things up.

Good clarity and color Megan! Seriously!

Shall we presume that is your real name until other evidence convinces at least 9 of 12 that it’s not? Even if they conclude that it is, that does not mean they are right correct?

One could only imagine how horrific the screaming matches are at night between Marshall and his wife. Must be blood curdling.

That statement from Gregg Marshall sounds as if it were written by a Biden revisionist.

All you have to do is watch the video of the ejection from the game at McGill University & you can see exactly just how much “respect” he has for his players & coaches. He’s lucky that the Canadians didn’t call the RCMP to haul his belligerent a** of to the lockup. But WSU will stick by their man just as IU did for Bobby Knight until something more serious happens. Remember De’nial isn’t just a river in Egypt, it flows through Kansas too. Remember the same people in Kansas who take up for Marshall also believe that Bill Self doesn’t wear a toupee & that Kansas runs a clean compliant program.
