Free throws are always bad this time of year. they are spending more time learning to play together than spending time on individual improvements. So things like spot up shooting and free throws tend to take a dip this time of year, especially for freshman. Although, our spot up shooting was awesome tonight.

Squad is loaded, lots of talent. Derek is way better, Matthews is nice, Humphries is REALLY GOOD. But the one thing I took out was that Isiah Briscoe can not play off the ball because HE CAN NOT SHOOT. Not only that, he is scared to shoot. We just went through 2 years of that with Andrew “pump fake and drive” Harrison. He is best at point WITH THE BALL. We need to start either Matthews or Derek there at the 3 and give Ulis 2 shooters.

Bro 7-11 overall and 1-2 from deep seems like he’s shooting just fine..

Briscoe does not have a good looking shot. Don’t think he can be counted on to be real consistent from 3 or the ft line. However Tony Delk had a weird motion and did ok if I remember so you never know. Seems with this group Briscoe won’t have to be counted on to make a bunch of 3’s anyways. Ulis is unreal, Murray right there, Charles shot looks ok and if POY is making them, WOW.

We don’t need Briscoe to be outstanding off the ball. We’re running the dribble drive this year. Key Words: DRIBBLE, and DRIVE. That is exactly what he excels at. He will pick up fouls, drive the ball for easy points, and kick out to the wings when they’re open. If Alex Poythress, who no one had any confidence in making a 3, can hit lights out tonight, then at the very least Briscoe is good for keeping the defense honest around that 33-35% range for 3P. But he is the #1 point guard for a reason, don’t be surprised if the man can at the least hold his own shooting wise.

You’re confused…This is is scouting report: “One of the most explosive scorers in the class of 2015. He can play at either the point or the two and is a big and strong backcourt player. At times his shot selection is poor which hurts his percentages some, but he is a skilled scorer who can shoot from deep or attack off the dribble.” So basically, he can shoot extremely well but he doesn’t always use great judgement. That is something that Cal will chip away at. I would rather have an explosive scorer than the Harrisons.
