Where Jamal Murray’s performance ranks in UK history

Though UK’s performance yesterday left a lot to be desired, it offered one big bright spot: Jamal Murray was really, really good.

Chris Fisher over at 247 Sports did us a favor this morning and compiled some accolades that Murray collected with his 33 point performance:

– It’s the second most points a freshman Wildcat has ever scored, behind Terrence Jones’ 35 points in 2010. It is also the highest a Kentucky player has scored since then.

– Murray is only the 9th UK player to ever hit 7+ 3s in a game. Jodie Meeks (10) holds the record for most 3s hit in a contest. Murray is tied for 4th.

– He tied Jeff Brassow and Doron Lamb for second-most 3s hit by a freshman. Eric Bledsoe set that record (8) in UK’s first game of the 2009 tournament.

So, all in all a very good showing by Jamal. Now if the rest of the offense wants to get going, that would be nice.

Thanks. I’m having some computer difficulties so I’m blaming my iPhone for all of this morning’s shortcomings.

Talk about trying to put a silver lining around a black cloud.

      Its one loss in December.

Like UNC losing to Northern Iowa and Texas…. yet everyone thinks they are the clear-cut #1 team in the country.

      Losses happen. Troll.

All great teams need a player that can put the team on his/her back and carry them when things go south. Jamal is our guy and this team will get it together.

What is in the drinking water in Lexington that causes both the basketball and football players at UK to come Not Ready to play? I watch college basketball seven days a week and I don’t see this from other teams across the country. On a 15 man roster why are you lucky to find one man that can make a shot? Maybe Cal should have a 10 minute scrimmage before the game!

Terrance Jones didn’t come to Ky until 2010.

Not hitting in the first half from 3 allowed OSU to pack in the paint and completely frustrate Skal. That can not happen against Lullville.

Sorry, Murray doesn’t get a really, really good rating from me until he shows up for both halves.
If we don’t get two halves of effort from the team come Saturday, the dirty birds will beat us by twenty.
