What People are Saying about Kentucky’s Win in Columbia

Dominque Hawkins can’t believe it either.

There's a lot of great pictures from today's game, but the one Dominique Hawkins' Tweeted (@DHawk_25) takes the cake.

There’s a lot of great pictures from today’s game, but the one Dominique Hawkins’ Tweeted (@DHawk_25) takes the cake.

Coach John Calipari

“I have never been more proud of a team. They are now empowered. They’ve proven that they dont need me and I love it.”

Jay Williams

“Tyler Ulis NEEDS to be in the National Player of the Year conversation. Dude is straight ðŸ”¥ðŸ”¥ðŸ”¥ðŸ”¥ðŸ”¥ right now.”

Frank Martin

“I don’t think I’ve ever coached against someone so slight in appearance but so strong, so durable and so competitive as Tyler Ulis.”

Jeff Goodman

It’s safe to now say that Kentucky is still the best team in the SEC — and a legit Final 4 contender. Ulis, Murray and decent frontcourt.

Jerry Palm

“Hey, a team that can win without its coach!”

NBC’s Rob Dauster

“I’m not sure I’ve ever seen someone 5-ft-9 capable of dominating a basketball game the way Interim Head Coach Tyler Ulis can dominate a game.”

ESPN’s Myron Medcalf

None of that matters, however, but this: Calipari’s ejection led to one of Kentucky’s most impressive performances of the season. They were the Wildcats we wrote about in October but only saw for a game or two in the nonconference season and a few halves beyond that. (LINK)

Seth Davis

“Not even midway thru second half and Tyler Ulis already has 21 points and 10 assists. Cal should get tossed more often.”

Dick Vitale

CATS B/C Ulis & Murray have been dynamite as they are DOMINATING USC. Team D has been superb Watch out here comes BBN

CBS’ Sam Vecenie

For lack of a better term, it was a virtuouso performance from Kentucky’s point guard in the biggest spot of the season for the Wildcats. (LINK)

Sean Farnham

“UK lost their coach on the sidelines today but they didn’t lose their coach on the floor. Tyler Ulis has his team rolling!  I said it & believed it in October that Tyler Ulis is the best true PG in the country & it’s more than just his numbers for Kentucky.”

As you may know, I go way back. It occurred to me today that Tyler is the best point guard we’ve had since Louie Dampier. I’m talking about point guard skills, which include leadership, floor generalship, vision, passing, etc. Thoughts?

This is why I like Calipari… because at the end of the day he is a good man with a big heart. He knew that Ulis was much better than Harrison last year but did not have the heart to look at a player that was giving his all (Harrison) and stayed an extra year (projected as 1st rounder out of high school) and tell him that a freshman was gonna take his job. It cost us a championship, but it proves that there is more to the game than just titles and more to Cal than just winning at any cost. Pitino, coach K, or Roy Williams would have thrown their mother under the bus to win a championship… just saying. ULIS IS A STUD!!!!

Man it’s fun to watch this guy. It seems like u can book his points and assists before the game starts. I cant remember him having a bad game. It’s a shame those negative fans were piling on him after he a turn over at the end of the Kansas game. Those same people aren’t saying anything now. Keep it up lil fella. And i might be totally wrong but don’t u all think cal wanted to get kicked out of the game. Seems like a cal tactic

Louie Dampier a point guard? I dont remember that term being used back then. But he was definately a shooting guard and Tommy Kron was the 1.

Damper not a point guard. Kyle Mary comes to mind more than anyone else. Kyle was more clutch
