Wenyen Gabriel’s transformation is incredible

Wenyen Gabriel spent the last month working out with T1 Training up near his old high school in Massachusetts and HOLY MOLY IS THAT REAL???

You won’t believe the results over the course of a three-week span of training. Check this out:

It’s going to be tough to steal a starting spot from sophomore Wenyen Gabriel in the beginning of the season. Look at that guy.

    Im all for him getting stronger/bigger, but there is no way that is from 3 weeks. If so, ill have what hes having, because that’s some serious gains for someone with long muscle fibers like Wenyen. It just doesnt happen that quick.

    Wow, that’s incredible. His real issue was his lack of lower body strength…Let’s hope his lower body also matches his upper body.

    I hope that is a year and 3 weeks, and the dates are mistyped . That is not natural.

    Couple things. 1. Lighting change. 2. He’s flexing I’m sure the training staff does these type of tricks to help motivate and see progress. But he has definitely gotten more muscle mass as well.

    You could easily do that in three weeks with hard work. For one thing, the first pic is non flexed, non swol. If you looked like that, worked out hard for 3 weeks, took this right after a workout with the right angles and lighting is 100% possible. That’s not the pic of someone on roids, guarantee.

      yeah his body fat percentage was already low, a few weeks hard work can really make a difference on a body type like that, of course the flexing and lighting make it more pronounced. All the people here saying that can’t happen in 3 weeks probably have like 40% body fat lol

    I’m a Wenyan supporter. I’m ready for this kid to break out. But….there is no way that is from 3 weeks. I need that regimen, I don’t care what it costs!!!! 🙂

    Wenyen, I love your potential, and love you ability to hit the long shot.

    The main thing you have to work on is your Defense. These are my observations:

    1) You don’t like contact. You gotta change this. You do this by getting in the way of where your guy wants to go, so that inevitably he has to run into you (make contact!). Most players don’t like this, usually because they’re weaker or it’s uncomfortable. Glad you’re beefing up so you can’t be pushed around like you were at time.
    2) You get lost when you’re man doesn’t have the ball. You lose sight of your man. You let him move to wherever he WANTS TO GO. What you SHOULD do: Generally, if he tries to move in a straight line towards the basket, step in his way so his path has you as an obstacle. The result will be that HE doesn’t want to bump into you and he will then stay away from the basket and a lower threat. In essence, you have him beat.
    3) Do better at boxing out. Again, this means contact. Stay low and put a butt into him.

    No doubt the coaches are teaching you these fundamentals. If you master what I say above, your playing time will double is my prediction. This is basketball 101. As far as offense, keep shooting open shots, but realize you can have a critical impact on the game by getting 2-3 garbage baskets or offensive rebounds each game.Someone with your length should be able to get 2 or 3 put-back dunks or layups each game. Just keep hustling. Outwork everyone else. Chuck Hayes should be every front court player’s model.

      Could you be more condescending please? Do you really think Wenyen Gabriel seeks out KSR posts for basketball wisdom? And do you really believe the UK coaches don’t teach fundamentals?

      Earned Not Given, what are you talking about? Condescending? Does honest feedback hurt your delicate feelings? And your name is “Earned Not Given?” Sounds like you want it to just be given. What a joke.

      Since you missed it the first time, I said NO DOUBT the coaches teach these fundamentals. Dude, pay attention to what was written before snapping to incorrect judgments. Damn.

      I love Wenyen’s game and thought he was a one-and-done in December, till it became apparent he never figured out the fundamentals highlighted above. If he masters these, then he’ll probably start next year or get 20-25 minutes a game. If he doesn’t, the Coach will sit him until he EARNS it because he won’t just give it to Wenyen.

      Sorry to hurt your feelings.

    For anyone saying this isn’t possible it is. I’m sure like others have pointed out lighting and flexing make a big deal but also if he cut out salt, sugar, and went for cutting g water weight you can easily get pics like this when you already have a low body fat percentage. MMA and Bjj guys do it all the time to make weight

    Personal experts and the like LOL He lost a thin layer of fat and toned looking at his neck, chest and biceps you can see his actual thickness is still the same. At his age thats not implausible in 3 weeks. Another 3 weeks of no weight training he is right back at pic 1. Good job Wenyen!
