WATCH: Rex Chapman opens up to Dan Patrick

After reading Rex Chapman’s piece for the Herald-Leader, Dan Patrick dialed up Rex for an interview on the Dan Patrick Show earlier today. It began on the topic of the current racial injustices around our country, but turned to Rex’s own battles with addiction in a very difficult conversation.

Then Rex broke the ice and tension with some self-deprecating humor, a well-timed Cal to the Lakers joke, and things turned toward Rex’s time at Kentucky from there. We also learn Rex should’ve been a part of The Last Dance too.

The whole interview is about 20 minutes and you can see it all below:

Hopefully he has changed, he used to be a real self-centered pri<k! My grandfather always said a leopard doesn't change his spots, just learns to camouflage himself better with them. For Rex's sake, I hope my grandfather was wrong, but he was usually right 99.9% of the time.

Your grandfather was a wise man.

Addiction changes people in ways non addicts will never fully understand and recovery is a long up hill process, not an event.

I am of the belief that anyone can change, but they have to want it to happen.
