I think I heard him say,”I only recruit players who can jump, and shoot less than 30% from the floor. You see, all that matters are dunking highlight montages. No one cares about shooters. Just ask Golden State”.

Yeah you’re right… He didn’t recruit Brandon Knight, Doran Lamb, Derek Willis, Devin Booker, Tyler Ulis, Jamal Murray and Malik Monk, to name a few – They all just showed up on their own.

Doron Lamn and Ulis are the only two in that list who can shoot consistently well. Booker is awful, Murray until this past month has been awful, Knight doesn’t get playing time any more, and they are already trying to trade Monk because he is a bad shooter. And you only back up my point because with the exception of Lamb, one of the good shooters, we lost in the tourney earlier than we should have because those “shooters” went ice cold and couldn’t hit anything in a game against a much worse team. Look at Monk’s production the last month of his career.

I am speaking of them when they were in college. Murray & Booker both shot 41% from three-point range. Monk was just under 40%. Were they streaky at times – yes – but I guarantee ANY other school in the nation would have loved to have any of them. In the NCAA tournament last year Monk shot 50% from three and we were “that close” from going to the final four – we just ran into the only team that probably could have beaten us at the time last year. No shooter hits them all not even Golden State.

Someone was saying Bruce Pearl would take this job, in which case we’d be under investigation and looking to hire another coach. How many programs have run him out of town?
