Watch John Calipari Address the Team in the Locker Room after the Auburn Loss

The Journey has come to an end.

After each UK basketball win the KyWildcatsTV crew treated us to a behind-the-scenes look of the game. Watching the players in the locker room after a season-ending loss hurts. Seeing how John Calipari embraces his players is heartwarming.

“The year you guys had, unbelievable,” Calipari said. “For me, I’m going to be honest, this won’t take away anything from what you guys did.”

We have become the most spoiled fan base out there. Great year for this team.

My heart hurts. Was SO invested this year because they seemed like such an exceptional group. Great year, all love.

I think they were exceptional because they played so hard. They played as a team but happened to run into a team that was doing the same but only better. It’s always hard when the season ends because there’s no longer games to look forward to. It was sad to close down my UK man cave yesterday after the loss especially since it was packed with people for the game. Always tough.

Really feel bad the team couldn’t pull it out. Wonderful group of kids. To PJ, what a warrior to give it everything these last two games when you didn’t have to, but I and a lot of us never doubted you. To Reid, thank you also for playing through injuries, sacrificing your draft stock to help us try to win a ship. Most importantly, teaching and help guide these young men throughout the season. Reid is one of my favorite players by far. Just a heart of pure! The rest of them too, each and every kid means well and gave it there all. And to Cal, same. We as fans have the best nucleus around and a small group of so called “fans” don’t know that. It’s one game and we were 2 games away. Sucks but can happen to any team. Not always about winning, bc I care about our team as individuals also. Let that sink in if your a real fan!!!!! Go Cats and Go Big Blue Nation

I really was not this team and hurt for them. No selfies among the lot. I hope Cal also learns from this loss which should have never occurred.

I love this team! I love our coach! Wish it played out different (we would beat this team 4 out of 5 times). We just didn’t play well that game. But still, great year that was fun to watch!

Great group. Feel the worst for Travis and PJ.

Hope Cal learns also that you aren’t likely to get #9 with one and dones. Look at the final 4, all experienced teams. Look at one and dones universities Duke and us sitting home. But alas the NBA green room awaits.

And look how many times TT, Auburn, and Virginia have been to the FF. Mich State has been to some, usually about every 4-5 years; but, their last ‘ship was nearly 20 years ago.

How many one and dones have won it since we had AD? I think Villanova has one more than us since then.

Do you honestly think they will be more successful in the future?

You might want to take a look at what Villanova did before the two they won. Only times they were ever relevant…

Villanova has a good basketball tradition, and I admire their coach; but Cal has more final fours personally than ‘Nova has in their entire program history.
Their history is ok if you can tolerate the years of mediocre seasons and losing records.

It’s not about final 4’s or how many players are drafted, it used to be about hanging championship banners. Just hoping some of our defensive philosophy changes also.
