WATCH: Highlights from UK’s scrimmage at Rupp Arena

Photo: @KentuckyMBB

On Sunday, the Kentucky Basketball team scrimmaged at Rupp Arena for the first time. We’ve seen some pictures of the practice and snippets on social media, but yesterday, UK released a minute-long highlight reel that’s worth your time today:

Here are some more clips Jack Pilgrim culled from social media:

Afterward the scrimmage, Calipari took to Twitter to share his thoughts:

We put the guys through a game simulation today. Had them go through many of the things we would normally do on a game day since we won’t have any exhibitions this season. We finished with a scrimmage at Rupp Arena. The guys competed and were fiery. Davion Mintz hit a bunch of shots.

We talked to them again today about doing every thing they can to be safe — wearing a mask, social distancing and staying in our bubble. This is going to take every one of us to get through this, and our guys understand that.

These kids are so hungry to get this season underway. They just want to play basketball. I’ve told them 100 times how much I respect what they’re doing. This hasn’t been easy for them but they’ve handled with a sense of appreciation to be preparing for the season. Proud of them.

We’ll see the team scrimmage Friday at Big Blue Madness before everything gets real a week from Wednesday.

Kids on the court should get some of that shameless corporate dough generated by those horrible ass stickers

Those horrible ass stickers are keeping the Rupp Arena name for as long as Kentucky calls it their home court. I guess you’re one of that group who wants to rename Rupp Arena….ain’t gonna happen now.

Puzzling ad campaign by Central Bank here as well: “let’s try our best to piss off every single Kentucky basketball fan”

So the court is ugly and kind of annoying, but why would any fans be pissed off by it?

If we’re not gonna pay the kids, stop pretending we care while shamelessly slapping 20 foot corporate ads on the court they’re playing on.

I don’t think we truly appreciate the irony of an obnoxious ad that generates dollars for everyone except the players playing the game.
We’ll look up and see a Kroger jersey patch before you know it.

Again, no issue with making money. Just as long as the people providing the service get a cut.

Sorry, still not pissed off. I would also argue that the people “providing the service” are getting a cut, but that dead horse has been beaten enough.

Because 35,000 a year in free tuition, room and board, and books is no money at all, not to mention the money you save having team meals and stipends…..yeah making 3x as much as the average 18 year old and not having to pay for anything “extra” is so unfair……

I’m not pissed off and I’d bet I’ve been a Kentucky fan longer than you bigrich simply because I’m older than you.

Don’t forget the fans, without them none of this is possible, think of empty arenas and no tv contracts, fans drive the bus, but yet fans get higher ticket prices and over priced concessions.

No need for bullshit highlights..I want to see 10min of 5v5..Other teams have put out 5v5 videos, but all we get is 50s of highlights

I just hope Evansville isn’t coming to town. We already know Tennessee will win there, assuming there’s a season at all.

UGH… so frustrating to see Mintz STILL running with the 2nd unit (blue squad). He needs to be playing with the 1st unit developing chemistry and cohesion. He’s a grown-azz man and one of the better, more experienced players… he should be a STARTER!! Slow starts in games are unforced errors when you have Mintz sitting on the bench…
