Hamidou Diallo turned in his best performance as a Kentucky Wildcat tonight, putting up 22 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, and immeasurable hustle in the Cats’ win over Buffalo.

It’s been a rough season for Hami, which makes the hero’s welcome he received in the locker room even more rewarding:

“You saw what he is and what he’s capable of today,” John Calipari said of Hami after the game.

“We’re just trying to get better every day,” Hami said. “We know there was going to be a lot of adversity. We’re playing with a bunch of talented players. Every night can’t be your night. And that’s what we knew when we came here, and that’s why we chose to come here.”

The hardest I cheered tonight was for Hami’s monster dunks and blocks. Way to go, young sir.

I have been critical and supportive of him all season long, because I know how good this team can be with a productive Hami. If one or two more players can play at a high level and maintain it, we could very well bring home #9. Before, Knox and Shai had to both be on to be effective. If a couple more can get it going, we have a lot more room for error.

Proud to see him overcome his bad habits and be the player his team needs him to be.

Interested in hearing from the rest of you on whether or not getting Vanderbilt back would be a good thing or a bad thing based on how this team seems to playing well without him.
