Today, De’Aaron Fox made a young Kentucky Wildcat fan’s day during an autograph signing by agreeing to go to prom with her in May.

At first, Fox didn’t know what to make of the sign that read, “I’m ‘De’Aaron’ you to go to prom with me.” When Kendall Brown asked him if he was available the day of the dance, the future NBA point guard told her he’d be there.

After he agreed to go, Brown responded with a laugh, “I tried to DM (direct message) you, but you didn’t follow me back!”

I can tell I’m old because I can’t understand that sign at all. Can someone interpret it for me, please?

      “De’Aaron” sounds like “daring.”
I’m “daring” you to go to prom with me.

Those are the words DeAaron is supposed to say out loud to her. Then she can say Yes and accept his invitation to her prom.

I know she asked him to prom, but still can’t follow what she was saying.

I’m half you’re age and I couldn’t make sense of the sign.

She didn’t say I can’t handle you not calling me, she said she had tried to DM him after he told her to do that, and she said she had tried before and he didn’t follow her!

Fox is one of the best dudes of the Cal era… great young man and a fine ambassador of the program for years to come.
