We already know Immanuel Quickley grew up watching John Wall, and we already know John Wall's impact is still growing in the state of Kentucky and with the basketball program. What we didn't previously know was this pair had the chance for a "quick" chat this weekend while Wall was in town for the Kentucky vs. Florida game. Thanks to the folks with UK Athletics, now we know. Wall started the conversation with his own impression of Quickley, complimenting his aggression, confidence and "dog mentality" on the basketball court. He's also been impressed watching UK's star sophomore develop from "just a shooter" into a legitimate ball handler who can create shots for himself and his teammates, all while being a "lock-down defender." Quickley took the intitiative to ask the veteran Kentucky guard for some tips heading into March. Wall's advice was simple: stay the course. "Keep playing at the level you're playing at now, with that kind of confidence. Like Coach said, I think you were shying away from taking a couple of shots, you have to be aggressive... I think you all are going to go as far as Nick Richards takes you and as far as your guards take you," Wall said in the video. "If you have the opportunity to feed him the ball, feed him. That's what we did with DeMarcus [Cousins]." Comparing Wall-Cousins to Quickley-Richards? I'm sure Quickley will take that compliment any day of the week. Come March, Wall likes Kentucky's chances, but he also understands (maybe more than almost anyone), how quickly a great season can come to a disappointing end, reminding Quickley "NCAA Tournament is one loss and you go home." Still... "I think you all have a great chance. I feel like college basketball is open, and you all can compete against anybody... You've got a lot of people that have been here for two [or] three years and the freshmen who can help you all. You all have got everything you all have."
