Vote for Kentucky over Kansas in NCAA’s All-Time Starting Five Tournament

To pass the time until the season, the folks behind the NCAA March Madness social media accounts put together an All-Time Starting Five Tournament for fans to vote on. We’re now in the Elite Eight and Kentucky faces a familiar foe: Kansas.

Here’s who the panel picked to represent each school:

Kentucky:

  • John Wall
  • Tony Delk
  • Tayshaun Prince
  • Anthony Davis
  • DeMarcus Cousins

Kansas:

  • Frank Mason III
  • Kirk Hinrich
  • Paul Pierce
  • Danny Manning
  • Wilt Chamberlain

We could debate Kentucky’s starting five for hours, but let’s use our time more wisely and go vote for the Cats over the Jayhawks on Twitter. Right now, Kentucky trails Kansas 52% to 48%, so get to it:

There’s also a poll on NCAA March Madness’ Instagram story which will be used as a tiebreaker if the Twitter poll is 50/50. Polls close tomorrow and the winner faces North Carolina or Indiana in the Final Four.

Here’s the entire bracket:

Go, go, go, vote, vote, vote.

Forgive me, but I’ll take Booker over Delk. Maybe delk had better defense?

      The NBA Booker?

Really tough to compare since a bunch of U.K. players were only freshmen in college. Not sure how good Mason, Manning and Pierce were as freshmen, so on that basis i take the Cats easy. I would also have Mashburn in the starting 5 as the wing.

Why not Dan Issel? With the 3 point shot he could score a million points, give or take a few.

I have to say, Wilt was a badazz sumbitch back in the day. But I like our chances otherwise.

Based on how Wall and Cousins performed the last time they were in an Elite Eight, I don’t like their chances!

Cal forgot Cousins existed and left him on the bench. Give that team a 3-pt capable wing like Prince, plus Delk’s consistency over Bledsoe’s streakiness, and that’s a wholly different team. Plus having Cousins and Davis on the same team prevents doubling either, as was seen this year on the Pelicans.

I would have Mashburn in starting five. And, as much as I love Dan Issel he could not play defense and he admits it in his book “Parting Shots”.

Delk was a beast in college. Mashburn should also be in the mix. Wilt and Manning are a tough combo.
