Vote for Kentucky in NCAA’s All-Time Starting Five Tournament

To pass the time until the season, the folks behind the NCAA March Madness social media accounts put together an All-Time Starting Five bracket for fans to vote on. In the first round, Kentucky faces West Virginia. Who did they pick for each team’s top five?

Kentucky:

  • John Wall
  • Tony Delk
  • Tayshaun Prince
  • Anthony Davis
  • DeMarcus Cousins

West Virginia:

  • Jevon Carter
  • Jerry West
  • Da’Sean Butler
  • Kevin Jones
  • Kevin Pittsnogle

We could argue for hours about Kentucky’s starting lineup (No Mashburn? No Issel?), but there’s no denying that this one would kill West Virginia’s. Not surprisingly, Kentucky leads the poll 83 percent to 17 percent:

There’s also a poll on NCAA March Madness’ Instagram story which will be used as a tiebreaker if the Twitter poll is 50/50.

Here’s the complete bracket:

Now, the real question, which is perfect for a slow summer day: What’s your ultimate Kentucky starting lineup?

Mashburn over Prince 100 out of 100 times!!

I came here to say the same thing. Prince was a really good player, but never the go-to stud that Mashburn was.

Yeah – if WV gets West, why wouldn’t we get OUR NBA hall-of-famer?

UK is a 2 seed behind Kansas, UNC and Duke and Prince as the small forward over Mashburn??? I guess the NCAA’s goal is disrespect and outrage.

Can’t vote on Twitter…Matt Jones and co. kept reporting my conservative posts.

Dan Issel over Cousins. Mashburn over Prince. Wall, Delk and Davis look good. Tough to leave Givens and Kenny Walker off.

If we’re going based on who was best in college then it’s absolutely Ulis-Delk-Givens-Davis-Issel. If it’s based on who was best in nba then Wall-Chapman-Mashburn-Davis-Cousins. Either way Prince being in the lineup makes no sense.

Mash has pretty damn good college numbers, also. He was an all-american

Givens dropped 41 in the 78 national championship game, still the greatest single game performance by a UK player ever.

The real question is how Kentucky isn’t a 1-seed. Not worth voting if that sort of egregious error is made off the top.

How in tarnation do you put UNC, Duke, AND Kansas ahead of us??? Arguments (while bullcrap) could be made for UNC and Duke but Kansas? Really? Let’s just make sure we vote Kentucky to the championship to make up for this atrocity

Well, then, I guess Issel and Mash just come off the bench for 25 and 20, respectively. Oh, and about 12 rebounds apiece.

So, does it matter who are 5 are? Just vote!

Some things never change; start with W,Va., one game away from UL.
    We’re 2nd in titles, and can’t get a 1-seed?
Well, A.D. kicked Kansas’s a$$ twice…he can do it again.

I with you on most of your team but no way lamb should make the team. Lambs soph season has elevated stats similar to the year ford played with mashburn. Loads of wide open shot due to double teams of AD and terrance jones.

PG: Dirk Minniefield (All-Time Assist leader, better FG%, better Assist/Turnover ratio 1.8 to Wall’s 1.61)
    SG: Doron Lamb (6’4? & a career 47.52% 3 pt shooter instead of 6’1? Delk 39.75% 3 pt shooter)
    SF: Jamal Mashburn
    PF: Kenny Walker
    C: Anthony Davis
