The one storyline I thought of that would make the game really interesting was the Cauley-Stein Harrell matchup. But really, I thought both teams handled the other player very well. With Willie in foul trouble, he really couldn’t do much, and Harrell didn’t stick out to me as much, but while they were both on the floor together, it was clear that Cauley-Stein had the better night. If he keeps this up he WILL be 1st team all America.
Time to have a honest discussion. The RPI still is a big part in deciding the tournament field. When I check the RPI, seven of the top 68 teams are SEC teams. Florida isn’t one of them. I think the SEC is down, but not as bad as everyone would lead us to believe.
One sports recap described that as WCS throwing Harrell to the ground. Fact is Harrell fell down at least 3 times I can think of. Twice he hopped up raging about wanting a foul.
In general, Louisville’s plan was to flop and dive to the floor whenever near a UK player. Tons of teams have done it this year when playing us. If you can’t beat them, try to trick the refs.
Check this video 19 seconds in. Harrell purposefully steps into WCS’ way, trying to keep him from chasing down the ball. Willie does nothing but keep going, mostly avoiding Harrell. Harrel’s own attempt to slow Willie or draw a foul result in him tumbling all the way out of bounds. Then he stares at the ref. Shocked his attempt to draw a foul instead of get the ball didn’t work.
The Cauley Stein dunk play was actually one of 3 flop plays in a row for the Cards along with Chris Jones and Rozier. Rozier was fouled by Harrison reaching under his arm but he acted like he got hit in the face. He throws his head back after getting hit under the arm.
Can’t believe no one is talking about this acting job!! Someone needs to make a video of all the flopping done by UL in this game. Hate to say it but Andrew does a lot of this nonsense too but we don’t notice it because he is with us. Be a man Andrew, play some ball and “get ****n back in the huddle.”
He was beaten and he did the only thing he could think of – act like he got pushed. Hats off to the refs for not falling for this or that other invisible elbow.
That reminded me too much of some other famous acting jobs against UK. Namely Wojo and magliore. At least Jones’ acting job was called embarrassing by the announcers, unlike Billy Packer going crazy when Wojo did his acting. Harrell also flopped. They should be hiding their faces in shame. Maybe Pitino told the players to do this, knowing all to well who was refereeing the game and also that UK always got whistled with flops (especially Duke) when he was coach.
Harrell is no where near a POY candidate. The most over rated player in the nation. He played the whole game with maybe one foul called on him, the refs not calling the numerous walks he made, the comical flop as shown here. The Tards will NOT be a #1 seed and likely end up in UK’s bracket as usual and all the basketball world will get to see Harrell embarrassed yet again by better UK bigs. Next time won’t be the YUM center tho with hand picked refs to let them get away with their slapping, hacking, over the backing play. The flopping will win them zero games.

That mean mugging by WCS after the dunk is amazing!
Awesome play by Willie!

In my opinion the flopping from Louisville was ridiculous!
