Vanderbilt Star Aaron Nesmith Out Indefinitely

For the second straight season, injuries have sidelined Vanderbilt’s best basketball player.

Aaron Nesmith suffered a stress fracture in his foot in the Commodores’ 83-79 loss to undefeated Auburn. According to the school’s newspaper, the Vanderbilt Hustler, Nesmith is expected to miss the rest of the 2019-20 season.

Nesmith leads the SEC in scoring, averaging 23 points per game on 49.7 percent shooting from the field and 50.5 percent from behind the three-point line. This season the sharpshooter has already posted a pair of 30-point games.

Commodore basketball fans must feel snake-bit. Last year Vanderbilt lost Darius Garland just five games into the season. Despite the injury, the Nashville native was still picked fifth overall in the 2019 NBA Draft. Just when fans thought Jerry Stackhouse found his first star, the guard is lost for the season.

Kentucky hosts Vanderbilt at Rupp Arena Wednesday Jan. 29.

Such a shame. Kid’s a really good basketball player and was having a great season. Best wishes for a complete recovery.

Hang in there brother. Work hard on your recovery and come back stronger and better. I hate to hear of any kid getting hurt and losing time from an injury.

Terrible news for Vandy. I hope he has a full recovery. That being said, if it follows form he will make a miraculous return when UK plays them. 😉

Really hate it for the kid.

Also, The Hustler sounds more appropriate for a UofL newspaper than Vandy.
