Last night’s 82-78 win over Vanderbilt moved Kentucky’s record to 7-13, 6-7 in conference play. With tonight’s league games postponed due to weather, the Cats will head into Saturday’s game at Tennessee in eighth place in the SEC. Here’s a look at the current standings:

TEAM CONFERENCE GAMES BACK OVERALL
Alabama 12-1 17-5
Arkansas 9-4 3 17-5
LSU 8-4 3.5 13-6
Tennessee 8-5 4 15-5
Florida 6-5 5 10-6
Ole Miss 7-6 5 12-8
Missouri 6-6 5.5 13-6
Kentucky 6-7 6 7-13
Georgia 6-8 6.5 13-8
Auburn 5-8 7 11-11
Mississippi State 5-8 7 11-11
South Carolina 3-8 8 5-10
Texas A&M 2-6 7.5 8-7
Vanderbilt 2-9 9 6-11

When you factor in tiebreakers, here are the current SEC Tournament seeds (Auburn is not eligible):

1. No. 8 Alabama (12-1, .923)
2. No. 24 Arkansas (9-4, .692)
3. LSU (8-4, .667)
4. No. 19 Tennessee (8-5, .615)
5. Florida (6-5, .545)
6. Ole Miss (7-6, .538)
7. No. 20 Missouri (6-6, .500)
8. Kentucky (6-7, .462)
9. Georgia (6-8, .429)
10. Mississippi State (5-8, .385)
11. South Carolina (3-8, .273)
12. Texas A&M (2-6, .250)
13. Vanderbilt (2-9, .182)

A quick glance at Kentucky’s draw if the SEC Tournament started today:

Kentucky has four scheduled games remaining: at Tennessee, vs. Texas A&M, vs. Florida, and at Ole Miss. Even if the Cats can’t get a double bye, there’s opportunity to move into the lower half of the bracket to avoid Alabama.

While we’re looking at stuff, here are the updated season stats. Mintz’s 18-point performance brought his season average to 10.3 points per game, meaning five Wildcats are now averaging in double figures.

If we move to a 7 or 6 seed I like the draw. Just keep us away from Alabama

I wouldn’t mind playing Georgia, Arkansas, Mizzou and Bama again for a “Revenge Tour”. Of course…we’d have to win those to get revenge. That’s been the tough part so far. Also Gotta beat UT this weekend.
    Wishful thinking, I know.

So how is it that Askew has logged more minutes than anyone on the team? I don’t get it? And I guess Fletcher is done for the season? What a waste…

Askew is the only healthy PG on the roster…..done a fine job of running the offense lately as well—-his TO-free 2nd half last night was great!

Excited to see his growth into year 2 of running an offense

He has the highest assist to turnover ratio on the team while handling the ball more than anybody else. Agreed he isn’t what we are used to but you need the person who handles the ball best in the game. That is especially true when the entire team has proved to be turnover prone.

I wonder how many will be next year?

What I see in those statistics is that our 3 worst shooters get the most minutes and that among those 3 worst shooters, BJ Boston with a pitiful field goal percentage of 36% shoots way more than anyone else and it isn’t even close.

Although, Boston has looked much better of late. I really think the lack of pre-season and no cupcakes to gel on are the primary culprits. Almost all of Cal’s teams take time to find their groove

      Absolutely right!
Who would’ve thought losing 4mos of practice/bonding time would affect a team??? Crazy
