UK officially announces Barclays Center game

Word spread earlier this week that Kentucky’s December game against Hofstra, originally scheduled for the newly-renovated Nassau Coliseum, has been moved to the Barclays Center. UK confirmed the non-conference game Thursday morning with a comment from John Calipari.

“We are very excited to return to the Barclays Center this upcoming season to play Hofstra,” Calipari said. “The Barclays Center is one of the premier venues in the country and a favorite of our fans. This will be our fourth game in Barclays since it opened, and all three previous games the Big Blue Nation has made it feel like a home away from home. We expect the same this year.”

The game will be the first of the 2016 Brooklyn Hoops Winter Festival doubleheader on December 11. LIU Brooklyn vs. St. John’s will follow.

Tickets go on sale in September.

Far away , neutral games against mid majors is a bad idea. Yes it gives UK fans in the area a chance to see their Cats in person but give them a better experience by bringing in a better opponent. Keep the mid major games in Rupp.
