UK aims to set new Guinness World Record at Kansas game

rupp-crowd

Representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records will be in Rupp Arena on Saturday as Big Blue Nation attempts to break the record for “Loudest Indoor Crowd Roar.”

Guinness will measure the crowd roar at three points during the game: first in the beginning before tip-off and then twice more at moments that will be announced to the crowd. Only natural noises — cheering, clapping, screaming LESSGGGOOO!!!! — will be allowed in the recorded attempts, so leave your noise makers at home.

The Sacramento Kings currently hold the record, set back in 2013.

I think the fans and the team should spend more time trying to actually win the game by disrupting what Kansas is trying to do with cheers, yells and basketball execution myself.

You might be able to do that if you measured a really exciting moment in the game, but just telling the crowd to yell at a certain time won’t be as loud as a real cheer, imo.

Maybe UK should bring out the big guns and invite some superstar former players (football and basketball now that the NFL is almost done), a former coach who still lives in the area, and a few BBN celebrity guests. The roof might literally pop if that parade started up at the right time

Might have to poke some of the little old blue-haired ladies with their knitting needles to get a squawk out of them. šŸ˜‰

I don’t know what the answer is, but fan participation during games has to improve. Consistent largest attendance records should not seem as quiet as it is. Fans in attendance only cheer when something exciting happens. We do not make it difficult on the visiting team. Many student sections across the country make the erupption zone look and sound weak.

Most drives to the bucket in a single game? Most lay ups in a single game?

Have Ashley come in after the game starts or maybe do the Y.

I doubt that unhinged leftist would get many cheers after her recent DC melt down…

I think the only way the record goes down is if they show Ashley Judd on the video board.

Most of the time in Rupp ( I’m a season ticket holder) all you here are sneakers squeaking on the floor or Cal yelling out at players. Oh, I’m 6 rows up on the SECOND level and can hear this easily. Rupp Arena is absolutely a funeral parlor compared to KS, Puke, and several other arenas. The loudest it gets at Rupp is the FREE chicken tender contest! Our fan base at home is pathetic.

Don’t think so? Go to any of the games we play in Chicago, Indy, NY, Atlanta, Vegas (where I was against UNC), or the SEC tourney. THAT’s when you get a real feel for what it could be like at Rupp ALL the time with the heart of real CAT fans.

      LMFAO

You don’t have to lie to us to tell us the atmosphere at Rupp is a little underwhelming most of the time. EVERYONE knows.

Why does an ignoramus think it’s funny that somebody goes to these other games? You couldn’t hear yourself talk at the UNC game because 3/4 of 19,000 of the arena were real Cat fans that can’t get in to Rupp. You guys are so full of SH*T it’s ridiculous. Sell my tickets? Why, so someone else can go that doesn’t cheer on the Cats? WTF does a boat have to do with this? Why are you a crybaby because most of the fans in Rupp sit on their hands and you call them out? You guys are pathetic.

Sacramento Kings? That must have been incredibly loud, prolonged, excruciating wails of agony.
