We all know how invaluable Tyler Ulis is to this team, and after Ulis sat out one game and played injured during another, the national media knows it too. NBC Sports’ Rob Dauster released his latest Player of the Year Power Rankings, and Tyler Ulis came in at #5:
No. 5 Tyler Ulis, Kentucky Basketball (12.6 ppg, 5.0 apg, 3.6 rpg)
Ulis is the best, and the most important player, on Kentucky this season. When he’s healthy, Kentucky has, for the most part, looked like one of, if not the best team in college basketball. In the loss at UCLA on Thursday, Ulis was very clearly still battling an elbow injury that cost him a game against Illinois State earlier in the week. We’re not going to hold that 2-for-12 performance against so long as he proves he’s back to being himself.
