Tyler Herro Invited to NBA Draft Green Room

A Kentucky Wildcat in the NBA Draft Green Room, a tradition unlike any other.

In eight days the Barclays Center will host the 2019 NBA Draft. A night dedicated to the league’s future stars, 17 of the top prospects will be invited to attend the life-changing event. One of them is a Kentucky Wildcat.

ESPN’s Jonathan Givony reports Tyler Herro has picked up an invitation to the NBA Draft Green Room. A four-star recruit out of high school, the former UK shooting guard has risen up draft boards since the end of the 2018-19 season. Once a fringe top 20 prospect, yesterday Sports Illustrated projected Herro as a lottery pick.

The other prospects who have received Green Room invitations:

  • Zion Williamson
  • Ja Morant
  • R.J. Barrett
  • Nassir Little
  • Romeo Langford
  • Darius Garland
  • Jarrett Culver
  • De’Andre Hunter
  • Coby White
  • Cam Reddish
  • Jaxson Hayes

Every year Cal turns a 4 star fringe McD’s AA into a lottery pick. Herro, Shai, Booker

The latest “hot” rumors have Tyler going to the Celtics at #14. Not a surprise if you think about it. GM of the Celtics is Danny Ainge, and for you youngsters out there, he and Herro have similar games. Ainge was one of the stars on the Larry Bird era Celtics, and he was a good one. Played with a lot of fire and attitude (like Herro). Go find some YT videos and watch if you’re curious.

Don’t have to do that; watched Ainge play many a game for BYU and the Celtics.

I feel out of the three players from Puke, he has the best chance of success with his size/shooting ability/defensive potential. Zion will struggle because there are a lot of players just as physical as him and close to as athletic as him. RJ is the one I feel is most overrated…

The NBA plans to invite 20 players (not 17), so PJ should get one and KJ is probably on the bubble based on the most recent draft projections.
