Today on KSR: Championship Week

So. Much. Basketball.

Today we get the first big taste of Championship Week as major conference tournaments begin, putting approximately 92 teams to the test.  From noon till midnight, somebody, somewhere is playing college basketball.  For many, like Louisville and Notre Dame, it’s win or NIT. It’s such a big day, Jimmy’s Jet has been dusted off and is leaving the hanger for takeoff at the SEC Tournament.

Your guide to avoiding for work for basketball is below.  Good luck.

John Calipari Checked In On D.J. Jeffries

Before departing for the SEC Tournament, Kentucky’s head coach saw D.J. Jeffries post 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 blocks.  Considered the No. 8 small forward in the 2019 class, Jeffries holds a UK offer.  New to Jeffries?  Watch him do work vs. R.J. Barrett in the EYBL.

Awards Roll In to Lexington

Kevin Knox and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander racked in a few postseason awards yesterday.  Knox was named SEC’s Freshman of the Year and made the All-SEC First Team, while Gilgeous-Alexander landed on the Second Team.  UK’s dynamic duo was also named to the United States Basketball Writers Association’s District IV Team.

A pair of future Wildcats were also honored this week.  Keldon Johnson and Immanuel Quickley were named Naismith High School All-Americans.

KSR Bracket Madness is Coming

And don’t forget it.  Starting Selection Sunday night, enter your best bracket for the chance to win a handful of excellent prizes, from one year of free Cane’s to Red State BBQ.  After dominating the field in the KSR Bowl Challenge, I’m prepared to run it back in March.

No Spring Practice Today

Until they return to the field tomorrow, you can catch up on all the action here, or just watch how it all went down on day one.

UK Baseball Smokes EKU

The Bats were on fire last night at The Cliff.  National Player of the Week Luke Heyer hit a grad slam, while Kole Cottam and T.J. Collett tacked on homeruns to give the Bat Cats a 16-5 win over the Colonels.

Help a Pair of Kentucky Sharp-Shooters

A pair of basketball starts from the Commonwealth could earn a trip to a national three-point shooting and dunk contest, but they need your help.

The American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk and Three-Point Championships are accepting contestants via fan vote.  Mercer County sharp-shooter Lexy Lake is a finalist for the girls three-point contest and Pikeville’s Cade Byers is a dunk contest finalist.  Click here and get your votes in today to help put the Kentucky kids in the national spotlight.
