More good news surrounding Reid Travis to Kentucky…

According to David Sisk of Rivals.com, two sources around the Stanford program believe the First-Team All-Pac-12 transfer will end up at Kentucky.

And he’s not the only one.

Yahoo! Sports insider Jordan Schultz said that Kentucky is still the favorite to land Travis, even with PJ Washington back in the fold.

Evan Daniels of 247 Sports reported similar news, saying the Cats are the “strong favorite” to land Travis.

“Although not a done deal, multiple sources have told 247Sports that Kentucky is the strong favorite to land the 6-foot-8 Travis,” he said.

Travis officially announced his intention to transfer from Stanford this afternoon, saying he wanted to go to a school that “aligned with his academic and athletic interests.”

In other words, the 6-foot-8, 245-pound forward wants to contend for a championship in his last year of school, and Kentucky seems like the best option for him to make that happen.

Check out one of the NBA workout videos he released, showing off an improved jumper and some of his highlights from his time at Stanford:

Come on down, big fella.

    1) How is it we’re hearing so much about Travis but NOTHING about Vanderbilt?
    2) How is it that Vanderbilt and his people are better at keeping secrets than the White House?
    3) If basketball doesn’t work out, Vanderbilt might have a career in intelligence.

Hope these aren’t the same people that told us that both Vando and Wenyen were coming back to school…

I thought the Cats might have an “O-fer” day, but it’s turning out pretty sweet in the end!

End up with Travis and this really couldn’t have gone any better this off season. Gonna be a good season next year.

Much rather have Travis than Vando since we would only have Vando 1 more year.

We only have travis for 1 year too; he’s a grad transfer. But i’d rather have him too because he’s healthy; vanderbilt may not even play this year. I luv jared though, and hope he gets healthy and has a great career.

Not trying to put a damper on anything because I’d rather have Travis too, but he also battled injuries up until last season

I luv this Reid Travis; will be great at UK if he chooses us. He and PJ will battle in practice and both will be challenged daily.

Lose a scrub and a problem, get pj and a monster. Couldn’t have worked out better.

JV is hardly a scrub, he is one of the best rebounders we’ve seen even is he was injured and played very little.

He was referring to Gabriel being the “scrub” and Vanderbilt being the “problem”. Now I basically disagree, but also sort of agree at the same time……

Injured/potential nba star v healthy/proven college star for one year? If u have surrounding talent u play it safe right? We do, and Cal did if he gets his man.

It’ll be nice to have a player who actually loves COLLEGE basketball.

ARE we a better chance for a ‘ship than Villanova? Lately it hasn’t been the case. I’m not sure that’s gotta be his reason.

Exactly, right now we may not be the better place for a chance at a tourny, but we’re definitely the better place for getting him to the NBA. And we know that the Championship is a secondary goal to that.
