This stat about Kentucky’s defense under John Calipari says it all

Kentucky finding its footing offensively helped them overcome an 11-point second half deficit vs. Florida, but the comeback wouldn’t have been possible without some superb defense.

For the third time in four games, Kentucky held its opponent to 55 points or less. Fifty-five is a pretty special number. Under John Calipari, the Cats are a perfect 70-0 when keeping the opponent to 55 points or less, including 6-0 this season. They’re 165-7 when holding their opponent to 63 points or less. After allowing Florida to hit 43.3 percent from the field in the first half, the Cats held the Gators to 27.3 percent in the second. Down 10 with 12:32 left, they outscored Florida 34-12.

How impressive has Kentucky’s defense been during SEC play? Check out this stat from Corey Price:

That’s good.

    Yes, awesome stat.

Speaking of stats… isn’t Herro up to like 28 FTs in a row?

I’m a numbers nerd. Below is UK top 5 for FTs in a row…

      1 Travis Ford (1992-93 to 1993-94) 50
      2 Jim Master (1981-82) 40
      3 Jodie Meeks (2008-09) 36
      4 Ed Davender (1987-88) 33
      5 Kyle Macy (1978-79 to 1979-80) 32

Heart equals great defense. Great win against a Florida team that’s much better then their record shows. I’ve said it (like many others) that UK has a special team this year and if the heart and defense stays strong then #9 is coming to Lexington!! Hopefully while running into dUKe and redeeming that first game blunder!!

Speaking of defense, what coach decided EJ should move up to the top of the key on defense. That move frustrated Florida’s guards and cut out their clean looks. Great adjustment that paid big dividends.

Nailed it . What a great defensive play … it really helped . Would like to see that again versus RJ Barrett . Our only kryptonite is 6’6 , 6’7 slasher scorer types . That would slow that down some.

Man I honestly thought earlier this season that this team would not ever be an average defensive team…What a coaching job Cal and his assistants have done this season… I also agree with you too Wyatts1 about this team possibly being special and bringing home #9 this year

Not bad for a glorified AAU coach who just recruits All Americans and rolls the ball out..
