Joe B. Hall and the 1978 National Championship Wildcats will adorn Marker’s Mark’s 20th commemorative bottle for charity. In a partnership with Keeneland, a portion of the proceeds will benefit CATS, a.k.a. UK’s academic service for student-athletes.
Although the UK nor Marker’s Mark has confirmed, the Herald-Leader reports that the label pictured above was approved by federal alcohol officials last week. The Herald-Leader also reports that a label has been approved for an American Pharoah bottle. I can’t imagine a bottle of bourbon selling faster than one with the Triple Crown winner on the cover.
It’s the second time Joe B. has made the cover of a Maker’s Mark bottle. Not to put down the ’78 team, I initially hoped they would use this year’s bottle to recognize either the 50th anniversary of Rupp’s Runts, or the 20th anniversary of the 1996 National Champs, until I realized that both teams already have their own bottles.
