As Kentucky fans, we are well accustomed to John Calipari’s use of social media. Between tweets promoting his players in the pros, tributes to his friends who are sick or who have passed, or bizarre updates on how he’s not sleeping (LOL!!!!), keeping up with Cal on social media is just another part of following the Cats these days. Today, The New York Times profiled Cal’s media empire, which includes his social media accounts, CoachCal.com, and his new podcast, which apparently, President Donald Trump is open to appearing on:
The newest addition to Calipari Inc. is Cal Cast – Calipari’s podcast, a breakout by a major active coach. After only three months and 15 episodes, it has more than a million listens. Calipari has hosted fellow coaches, businessmen, basketball commentators and his good friend Drake. (His dream guest is another clamorous, technologically challenged one-man media machine; according to Calipari, President Trump told a journalist whom Calipari declined to identify that he was open to appearing on the program.)
A Calipari/Trump podcast?! Is the world ready for that? Check out the rest of the NYT’s profile. It’s not really news to Kentucky fans, but does include a snarky quote from Jerry Tipton.
