The NCAA’s tweaking how it seeds teams for the Tournament

fear-the-tweak

Anyone else still shudder involuntarily when they read the word “tweak”? No? Just me? Okay.

Anyways, news out of Indianapolis today that the NCAA is tweaking (ugh) how it seeds teams for the NCAA Tournament. From now on, the last four at-large teams will now be included in the “scrubbing” process by the Selection Committee, meaning they will be included in the overall seed list that ranks teams 1-68. The last four at-large teams on the overall seed list will now play in the First Four, which the Committee hopes will even the playing field a little bit.

Additionally, the committee will have more flexibility when handling #2 seeds. From now on, the committee can consider moving a team seeded fifth overall out of its natural geographic area, which will avoid the best number two seed being placed in the same region as the top overall team.

I’m all for that second one.

Can we get a rule that you can review potential shot clock violations?

They can review shot clock but only in last 2 minutes……so stupid. They feel a potential basket at 1:58 left is more important to the game than one at 2:02 left. Either do away with it or make it the whole game….At minimum it should be reviewed they can review it the entire 2nd half as a bad call in 1st half the screwed team can still recover.

Why does the NCAA always revamp the rules the year after we just got seriously screwed by one of the really stupid ones?

consider moving a 5 seed *unless it benefits University of Kentucky.

Why are we “shuddering” at the word tweak? The tweak took us to the National Championship. Just wondering if I missed something.

  5. Will they finally go back to calling the Thursday/Friday games “Round 1” like they should and that we heard they might? I have no problem with calling the 65-68 teams the “First Four”. That’s pretty good marketing. But please don’t call it “Round 1” unless you have a full slate of games on Tuesday/Wednesday.

Golly, I sure hope this means that Duke won’t finally get a difficult draw. I’d hate to see them having to face a tough opponent any earlier than absolutely necessary.

UK fans sound so stupid saying things like that when pUKe beat the team we did not beat and in the elite 8 we played a team in their conference and were lucky to win vs ND. In the sweet 16 we played a poor WVU team. Bottom line is the tourney is tough to win no matter who or where you play. We did not complain when pUKe lost in 1st weekend with that supposed easy road the previous years.
