The latest on Jarred Vanderbilt’s injury

Want some good news about Jarred Vanderbilt’s injury? It’s not to his left foot, which he’s injured multiple times, most recently in September. Kyle Tucker of SEC Country is reporting that Vanderbilt’s injury is instead an ankle sprain, which he suffered during practice yesterday.

Additionally, a source tells Matt Jones that the injury is not as bad as originally thought and Kentucky is hopeful Vanderbilt will be able to play again this season.

What does that mean for the SEC Tournament? While we don’t know the severity of the sprain, I can’t imagine John Calipari would risk playing Vanderbilt with the NCAA Tournament around the corner, especially given how little he thinks of conference tournaments in the first place.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Everyone forgets Knight sprained his ankle before SEC tourney in 2011 and he still played. We all freaked then. It worked out alright for us. I think Cal, Vando, and Med staff will do what’s best.

Jeff Shephard had a horrible high ankle sprain prior to the ’98 Title run. Nobody thought he would play in the NCAA tourney… the rest is history.

Keith Bogan’s ankle sprain also weighed heavily in the year we lost to D-Wade’s Marquette in the Elite 8.

Yea, but you gotta remember how hesitant Vando was to play with his injury. Hopefully he won’t do that again

Well if they’re actually talking about him not playing again this season why on earth would they play him in the sec tourney? If we’re gonna do anything in the NCAA he’s gonna have to be 100%

Who said that Jared was out for the season? And who is now saying that he would be available or play in the SEC Tournament?

I’ll be watching to see if he is in a boot on UKs bench on Friday. If this is a season ending injury, we won’t know it until after Sunday.

Well let’s hope he doesn’t start listening to his handlers again. I think he’s leaving anyway

Fortunately we have a solid crop of 3-4 year veterans that can step in and play meaningful minutes in case of an injury.

    Oh wait…

You people seem to forget this team played its best game of the season in the beat down of Loserville without Vanderbilt. TB112162 is right the sky is no t falling.

Ridiculous how so you think Georgia is better than Virginia Tech and Louisville we beat both teams without him and we also beat Georgia. We are capable of winning games without him maybe that’s just 35 years of coaching experience

Lamb also went down with an ankle sprain when he landed on some guy’s foot. Hope Vanderbilt heals quickly. He’s deserves to play.

If I recall correctly, we had at least 2 players and maybe 3 get injured in the same SEC Tourney game that year. Seems like I recall Knight, Lamb, and maybe even Liggins getting hurt late in that game, and I was yelling at my set that Cal should have put in the reserves since we had the game in hand. But what do I know? 🙂

Are we sure the report isn’t confusing Vanderbilt with SKJ, I know I saw him get his ankles broke a couple weeks ago

Hearing that it was the other foot might be the best news I have heard today. I was almost certain he had broken that foot again. Hope he is ready to go again soon. Sounds like Mizzou will have Porter playing – we could use Vando.

I strained my butt while pooping today, but don’t worry…I’ll be able to return to action tomorrow night. KSR’s reporting today has been pretty close to TMZ.

Ez21 thanks I knew there would be a negative comment about that so you think South Carolina is better than Virginia Tech and Louisville

I wasn’t trying to be negative honestly, however you can’t just look at the record and not look at the level of competition. Why pick SC? What about Fla, Mizzou, Tenn, Bama, Auburn, etc?

Let’s remember, we had a 4 game losing streak with JV and manhandled by Florida with JV.
We’re definitely better with JV, but not world beaters.
