That’s a big spread for the UK-LSU game

The betting line is out for Kentucky’s home contest against LSU, our nation’s 19th-ranked team, and it’s a pretty big number considering the competition.

According to the trusty, Kentucky is laying nine points to LSU in the opening line. The point total for the game is set at 149, the highest mark since the first meeting with Vanderbilt on January 12.

The Cats had covered in seven straight games (going back to that Vandy game) before Saturday’s contest at Mississippi State was considered a push with a closing line of four points. The under has cashed out in five of UK’s last six games, including a current streak of three straight.

Good luck to you, fellow gamblers.

Im not all that shocked. LSU is a good team, but they have been playing with fire lately and doing it against the SEC bottom feeders (Auburn really being the exception, and they had a chance to tie the game late). If we get a double digit lead at home, I have no doubt we will put them away. I say Cats win, 76-62

LSU has the record but who did they beat. You tell me as here are the non conf wins…SE La, Memphis, La Tech, UNC Greensboro, Charleston, Grambling, Incarnate Word, St Marys, Furman, UL Monroe. Also lost to FSU {not a bad loss} and to Ok St {bad loss}. Other wins are vs SEC with best win vs a projected 8 seed MSU {they will drop} and projected 10 seed Auburn. What win should have them ranked in top 20. Not wins, what one win is worthy. I tell you people all the time these ranking are just people looking at records and aying oh 19-4 they must be good. We are 23-0 or maybe 22-1 with their schedule.

Kentucky could easily be 22-1 with their own schedule. CATS

Yeah, that’s what so crazy…The Duke game was an anomaly before we knew who we were and how to play (not to mention Ashton Hagans wasn’t our point guard). If we make two more jumpers, or get two more defensive stops, we are 22-1 and winners of 22 straight. Sometimes, it really is that close.

There’s only one game remaining where we will be an underdog, and I’d venture to guess it’ll be less than a 3-point spread in that one. 27-4 would be right about what people expected after the Bahamas, and two bounces of the ball away from being 29-2.

Mashburnfan, I get your point, but you are literally saying “rankings are meaningless, and to prove it, look at how poorly ranked the teams they beat are”. That doesn’t make sense. It’s like saying “rankings don’t mean anything, dook is number 1, but they’ve only beat #10. We are #2, and we’ve beat #6. We should be number one…if it mattered”. You constantly shlt on the SEC, but do you actually watch these teams? LSU is legit! Know how I know that? No, it’s not because of the number by their name, it’s because I’ve watched them play no less than 8 full games this season. SEC is also big time legit. Yes, better than the ACC. You take our top 6 or so teams versus theirs in a one game tournament:

Tennessee easily stacks up to dook.
We easily stack up against uva or UNC
      LSU could easily beat UNC

And so on and so forth. Come @ me in March…the trend lately is the sec having the most teams still playing as the tourney goes along. Sec, like UK, gets better as the season goes on because we all beat the hell out of each other. The only ACC game all year that rivals a mid level sec game is when dook plays UNC. Can guarantee the best coaches (who get paid millions to know b-ball) in the game want no part of an MSU, Auburn, or Alabama come March, let alone us or Tennessee.

79-70? Is LSUs defense that bad? Or do they just expect the athletes on the floor to be athletes and run and gun? I would love this outcome, but I hope Cal is strapping them in for another dog fight! CATS

Agree… I think they were kind of like us and just took them until conference play to come together… This will be a tough game for us if LSU comes to play… Talent wise they are there… With that said if they get down early to us like they have in their last few games… They ain’t coming back at RUPP versus this team
