Georgia’s search for a basketball coach continues. According to Jeff Goodman, former Ohio State coach Thad Matta was offered the job but turned it down because he didn’t feel he was physically capable of handling the responsibilities (Matta has battled back injuries for years).

Meanwhile, it appears Ole Miss will hire Middle Tennessee State head coach Kermit Davis and Tubby Smith is delaying the inevitable in Memphis. Memphis officials were set to fire Tubby yesterday, but the meeting was postponed. According to Evan Daniels, they’re trying again right now:

Odds Rick Pitino is stationed outside the Georgia basketball offices in Athens right now?

Shouldn’t a guy named Kermit coach for a university that has green in their color scheme? Somewhere like Oregon or Notre Dame?

maybe so, but it’s not easy being green

Or maybe AR cause Kermit does like pigs. OK, that’s a stretch.

Good hire for ole miss. I like the SEC is getting these good coaches going to make the conference that much tougher

Pitino is going to have a “show clause” longer than two of his vampiric lifespans.

Pitino doesn’t want Georgia, and Georgia (the SEC) doesn’t want Pitino. Pitino is best served at Pitt or Uconn where NCAA corruption is the norm, or Syracuse when that cheating coach steps down.
He’ll prob go to Pitt because he thinks he can beat Louisville twice a year, but he thought when he went to Louisville he would beat U.K. Every year. Other than BCG, tubby and Cal owned him

Pitino would be a PERFECT fit at UConn.

Translation, they wouldn’t pay me enough! If he’s not ready to give a program what they want, who the hell would HIRE HIM?!!!!
This may be the most idiotic response I’ve ever heard by someone not taking a job but possibly looking for one!!! And I’ve hired TONS of people.

Matta ANYWHERE is probably a stretch if that school has big time aspirations. He had some big time talent at Ohio State and couldn’t break through. Former LSU coach Johnny Jones might be an upgrade????! How about Tubby back to Ga?

Was about to say , why not tubby full circle back to ga? I think he should & it would be fun to see tubby vs uk
