Just two days before playing 4th-ranked Kentucky at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Ohio State freshman shooting Austin Grandstaff is leaving the program.
The 6’5″ shooting guard was ranked as the 56th-best player in the class of 2015, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. Grandstaff averaged 4.4 points a game, shot 34% from behind the three-point line while acting as the 8th-man for the .500 Buckeyes.
Losing a shooter shouldn’t hurt them too much on Saturday. Excluding 6’11” center Trevor Thompson, their Top 5 players all shoot 32% or greater from behind the three-point line.
It also won’t matter because this poor team doesn’t stand a chance. Ohio State has some athletes, but this team plays bad basketball. They make a ton of silly mistakes and lack structure offensively.
They’ve lost to Louisiana Tech, UT-Arlington, and on Saturday they’ll lose to Kentucky in the House that Hova Built. Losing to Kentucky is a feeling they’re familiar with.
