Tai Wynyard is Injured, Now Also Suspended

Yesterday John Calipari revealed a disk issue in Tai Wynyard’s back would likely keep him off the court for the rest of the year.  It turns out that isn’t the only thing keeping Wynyard on the sideline.

Kyle Tucker reports Wynyard has been suspended indefinitely.  “Tai has been suspended from team activities due to a violation of team rules until further notice,” a UK spokesman confirmed.

The forward from New Zealand appeared in eight games this season to average 1.0 points and 1.8 rebounds.  After an injury and a suspension, it could be the last we’ve seen from Wynyard at Kentucky.

Interesting. Tai, have you been self medicating?

Wow. This is certainly a big surprise. I know Cal gets kids that aren’t trouble makers or anything of that sort but I do hope he isn’t doing anything to jeopardize his future with the team.

A shame, I know he doesn’t play much but always seemed to accept his role and be a good teammate

I foresee Tai following the Humphries path and playing “pro” in New Zealand next year. I was hoping his maturity and toughness would come in handy this year, but alas…. No.

Really? Why do people feel the need to bring politics into EVERYTHING. Also, learn what a comma is.

Not sure what happened to my response but I explicitly said that I was NOT going to castigate him for a choice that may have been related to back pain. As for your poorly written response, I must conclude that you’re the one with an IQ bordering room temperature. Please try to think before engaging in conversation.

      1) There was no mention of drugs. 2) It is the more liberal members of society that want to legalize marijuana will the conservative AG is ignoring the opioid crisis to demonize ‘weed’. 3) Why bring politics into this discussion at all unless you are a moron looking to get schooled in replies?

Nice…anonymously spreading unsubstantiated rumors about a 19 year old kid on a message board. I don’t care if you are Tai’s roomie and saw it firsthand, it doesn’t belong here. Geez

There’s a difference between knowing something and hearing something. Just because you “hear” doesn’t mean you “know”.

Did you see how good he was at 3 on 3 basketball? The kid has plenty of potential, it just didn’t translate to the college basketball game. When he plays a free wheeling no actual called plays, he dominated. I’d love to see him play in an all star game, he’d put on a great show. Too bad it didn’t work out here.

And we know he is done at UK how, exactly? Lots of unfounded speculation here.

    • Exactly. That last statement sounds like Nick knows more. If you’re going to say that you need to tell the rest of the story.

LumberFact: This is little more than the classic “Woodsman’s Ruse”. Tai will in fact descend from the rafters tonight via rappelling harness, top the upper limbs of UT’s tallest players and then descend through a secret exit built into the Rupp Arena floor.

Why would he transfer? Cal got 0 bigs for next year so he still has a spot.
