Swaggy Calipari tweets about UK’s draw

Considering how much John Calipari complained about Kentucky’s draw a week ago, how does he feel now that the top four seeds in the South Region are all gone? With the national media seething over the Cats’ suddenly wide open path to San Antonio, Cal couldn’t help but fire up the ole Twitter machine to respond this morning.

“Forget the seeds,” Cal tweeted. “Everybody is 0-0 that’s moving forward and it’s not about seeding; it’s about who is playing the best. We are in a tough region. I’m looking forward to seeing Jarred Vanderbilt today to see how far he’s come along.”

Calipari right after sending that, probably.

Crazy but plausible scenario – Loyola wins one more. FSU wins 2 more. Syracuse wins 3 more. UK gets all the way to a title without playing a team seeded better than a 9. March is so much fun!

The way this tournament has gone, that scenario is probably more likely than not to actually happen.

I don’t think Syracuse beating Duke then probably Kansas then whoever wins the East is exactly “plausible” – in fact that entire scenario playing out probably has about .1% chance of happening. Though it is crazy that it’s even possible.

It was barely plausible that Syracuse would get into the tournament, let alone the Sweet 16 over Michigan State. This year, don’t count anyone out.

We did get a tougher draw, but as numbers work. Eventually 10 years of screw jobs, we finally caught some breaks.

Two years ago w/ Murray and Ulis no one wanted to play us by end of year and they gave us a hot IU team in the second round, bad matchup for us, and Carolina benefited and went to the finals. We’ve had our share of bad draws, we were due. We should be favored the next 2 and maybe 3 games if we play up to potential, but K-State can beat us if we start counting chickens… one at a time!

10 of the top 20 RPI teams are gone. Villanova, Duke, Kansas and Purdue are left above us, but only 2 of them can go to San Antonio BUT don’t sleep in Nevada (13) or Loyola (20). K-State is like 40th. It’s not easy it’s just way more manageable than facing #1 then 7 or 11. Cal’s Right we are all 0-0 but I like our path better then any other Sweet 16 team now!

He can’t call our draw easy. That would be bulletin board material for the other teams. But you know he’s smiling.

This is one situation where Cal always says he is only worried about his team and what they are doing and it makes sense here. Don’t worry about who you’re playing next. Make sure you are executing and playing at your best and things should work out. When we play our best game, I like our chances against anyone.

One at a time, we can’t sleep on anyone at this time. Let’s focus on Kansas State and stick to our business. Go Cats.
