Still no word on whether Michael Porter Jr. will play tomorrow

Hey, remember that we play a game tomorrow? Yesterday, it was announced that Missouri star Michael Porter Jr. has been cleared to practice, which begged the question as to whether or not he’ll play in tomorrow night’s game vs. Kentucky. Today, Missouri coach Cuonzo Martin confirmed Porter returned to practice but didn’t say whether or not he’ll play tomorrow in Rupp.

“He will get implemented in practice today and then we’ll go one day at a time,” Martin said, via Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “I don’t really have a timetable after that. It’s just one day at a time.”

When asked, Martin said he hadn’t considered whether or not he’ll let Porter dress out for tomorrow’s game, but joked that he might to “throw [Kentucky] off.”

I’ve seen this story before. He’s playing.

I’m not concerned. We know from experience what it takes for a player to be effective coming off an injury. He may get a few baskets but he’s not in game shape and he hasn’t played in months AND he’s not going to do anything to risk another injury. We should have beat them the first time, we should win this easily if we play as well as we have the last two games.
    GO CATS !!

To send a kid out to play his first college game at Rupp Arena having not played in 25+ games would be a disservice to the kid. Mizzou may not care about that, but surely his parents/team cares. There will be tons of scouts in the crowd and for him to play poorly out of “rustiness” would be unfair to the kid.

All that said, I bet he plays lol.

I hate to see a coach risk a kids future career for one game… Playing him makes no sense, especially if he hasn’t been practicing with the team.

He’s been cleared by a doctor to play. He’ll play. He’ll be effective in spots…but of course he’s not in game shape. Look for Cal to push the ball especially when he’s in the game

He’s shooting 100% from the floor this season. Wait till Tourney time to play so your regular season stats are flawless! Ha.
