There are a lot of new faces on this Kentucky team, and one John Calipari will rely on to guide his very young backcourt is Davion Mintz. The Creighton grad transfer sat out last season with an ankle injury, but as a junior, averaged 9.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game and totaled 43 threes on 34.7% shooting. This morning, there are some new highlights on the web of Mintz doing his thing, so take some time and acquaint yourself with one of the newest, and arguably, most important Cats.

For more on Mintz and how vital he will be this season, check out Brandon Ramsey’s post from last weekend.

Looks like he’s pretty relentless attacking the hoop and is a great finisher through contact. He’s gonna be a great player for us if he can continue to build on that talent. I like his game.

He’s going to very hard to keep off the floor this year no doubt. Some of our practices will be unbelievable. Can’t wait to see what we look like around February. Definitely will be able to get up and down with the best in the country. Go Cats.

Cal did a great job adding him. Tough, attacks the rim, has a nice stroke, and utilizes the mid-range game. I’m excited to see this kid under the big lights.

He finishes at the rim. Something Hagans had trouble with.

Agreed. It was infuriating to watch Hagan’s miss bunny after bunny. When it’s all said and done, I think Hagan’s goes down as one of the biggest misses of the Cal era.

Very excited about him. We need his production, and I expect starters minutes, if not a starting role. I’ll say it again, if you can compete at point in the Big East, you can compete in any conference in America.

I like that he tries to dunk everything. It’s like Rodney Dent all over again
