St. Louis to host the 2018 SEC Tournament, Tampa in 2022, and two new permanent rivals

SEC commissioner Mike Slive announced today that St. Louis will host the 2018 SEC Tournament, while Tampa will open its arms to Big Blue Nation for the 2022 SEC Tournament.

Another interesting note from Destin: The SEC regular season schedule will now have three permanent rivals instead of one, meaning two more schools will join Florida for home-and-aways on Kentucky’s basketball schedule. The conference slate will remain at 18 games.

As you were…

Clearly one will be Tennessee, but who will the last one be? Missouri? Vandy? Or do we take a chance on an up-and-coming team like LSU or Arkansas?

They could go Arkansas for the nostalgia and so there’s one from the West.

You are showing your age saying Arkansas. Vanderbilt is a long term rival. It should easily be Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Florida is a manufactured rival by ESPN. As soon as Billy is gone, that rivalry will be history. TN and Vandy will always be

How can you have a postcard picture from St. Louis and not have the arch on it?

      It’s probably a pre-Arch postcard.

I’d vote for UT and Vandy. If not Vandy, my next choices would be Mizzou, Mississippi St, and Arkansas, in that order.

I bet they use the football permanents and we get Miss. St. with Tennessee.

If St. Louis and Tampa are getting SEC tournaments, then I think Louisville should get one. God knows the chicken shack needs the money. Jurich probably wouldn’t let it happen.

I have to agree with kirbdaddy…I think Louisville should have bid on the this as well…Then again, the city of Louisville doesn’t need the money, because as we all know the Yum center is dragging in major bucks 365 days a year….The place is barley holding it head above water, because the city is letting the UofL AD call the shots on who can rent or lease the Yum Center..He made it very clear, when it was first opened, He do what ever it took to keep UK out of the Yum center..So far he has done that, except the 2012 NCAA games there with UK…and the regular season match up between the two….The SEC could use the Fairgrounds, but that is asking a lot….just my view……..

Ole Miss just because I’d be able to see them play every year.
