Sporting News writer says Cal could put 8 in the First Round of the NBA draft soon

Kentucky could eclipse its own record for first round draft picks which was set in 2010 with 5 first round picks… or at least that’s what Sporting News writer Sean Deveney thinks based on conversations with NBA scouts.

“If things fall right, several scouts and front office executives told Sporting News that UK should eclipse its own record…with more than six players possessing first-round talent,” Sean Deveney wrote.

One NBA GM told Deveney (speaking of Kentucky’s potential NBA first rounders), “If you just drafted that team and kept them together while they matured, they’d be the start of a pretty good NBA team in two or three seasons.”

Kentucky seems poised to at least break its own record, with 6 players figuring to have a very good chance of going in the first round of next year’s NBA draft. Willie Cauley-Stein, Dakari Johnson, Karl Towns, Andrew Harrison, Aaron Harrison and Alex Poythress all have potential– along with Trey Lyles and Marcus Lee.

That picture is outdated. None of those players are on those teams. Come on, this is a rediculous form of reporting . Bob Costas would be embarrassed. Step your game up!

I could see Alex and WCS staying nexy year again. I think WCS is hooked on Big Blue and Alex is an 4 year player.Lee i think will also return for another year as good as he is and will be he still needs more developing . Lee could be an 4 year man also . These next 5 years are going to be very interesting for Kentucky fans as we are seeing both one and done and solid players mix creating an 10/12 man deep team with exp.I think the decessions we saw players make this year to return to school was great for each player, the school and coach, and yes us fans BBN . As these players up there value in the NBA it’s going to start an chain reaction year after year .i am all for an player making his own decession on the NBA but as well as our Cats did this year i honesty thought Randle was the only player ready for the NBA and his maturing only happened very late in the season . I think James Young should have stayed in school one more year and develope more . He’ll be an solid NBA player in acouple years but he would have made an bigger check .You know unless i was an top 5 pick in the 1st. round i would not sell out the best years of my life .It would have been possible over the pass 5 years if players above the top 7 had stayed they could have been on 3/4 Title teams staying 4 years , completed school, and had nice contracts in the NBA. John Wall’s don’t come along to often .GO BIG BLUE !!! This decussion and guess what we have an football team too!!!!!

You’re wrong. AP is supposed to graduate next year he wants to go pro. WCS is gone no matter what. He’s too good and there’s a good chance we win it all and I would see most of them moving on to millions. Lee is projected in the lottery too.
