By now, praising UK’s defense is pretty redundant, but I think we need to pause and appreciate just how hard it is for other opponents to score. Tonight, UK held EKU to 26.1% from the field, the ninth game in a row they’ve held opponents to under 40 percent shooting. In the last five games, they’ve held opponents to under 30 percent from the field. Shew.

“We knew coming into this game, as a coaching staff, that they were holding opponents to 28% from the field, and that’s absolutely amazing,” EKU coach Jeff Neubauer told reporters. “Our team, I told them they were just guarded by the best defensive team in the modern era of college basketball, and I’m not exaggerating a little bit when I say that.”
