University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

So…when is St. John’s going to give up and hire Rick Pitino?

Today, we got one step closer to St. John’s giving up and hiring Rick Pitino.

This morning, Iona’s Tim Cluess became the latest coach to turn down the Red Storm, joining Bobby Hurley (Arizona State), Porter Moser (Loyola-Chicago), and Ryan Odom (UMBC). The news is particularly cruel considering Cluess is a St. John’s alum and both of his brothers, who died young, played there as well. Last week, Chris Mullin stepped down after four seasons.

Where does St. John’s go from here? According to Matt Norlander, they’re interviewing Yale’s James Jones today and former Arkansas coach Mike Anderson and Oklahoma State’s Mike Boynton are also in the mix.

How long before the St. John’s AD is on the phone begging the Southern District of New York to apologize to Rick Pitino so he’ll return to New York?

High reward, but super high risk. NCAA just started on UofL’s latest issues and not sure if Pitino more involved. Plus, if he gets in any trouble at St. John’s in short term, AD and even President likely to be fired for taking such a risk. Rick cost Jurich his job.

So when the NCAA comes down on U of L , who’s to say the ncaa won’t place a show cause on Rick P, and if he were hired by a program in the near future how does that work .

Risk in UofL’s second investigation not completed. And if he gets in trouble at St. John’s, AD and even President would likely be fired.

Getting turned down by Mike Anderson would be the signal to give up… On basketball.

I was going to say even being in a position where you are considering offering Mike Anderson, but yeah.

I don’t get it, isn’t St John a good place to build a program.

I think so. It’s a perfect place for a super young coach to go to right now. If the powers that be could be patient and not fire him after 2-3 bad seasons, someone could build their own coach K type legacy.

With NYC’s plethora of talent and prospects, no doubt it’s a good job. Say what we want about Pitino and St. John’s risk involved but with his northeast ties, and hall of fame coaching ability, he’d have that program consistently in the top 25 in year 2 and title ‘talk’ year 3 or 4 at most.

Pitino might not last one year much less two. He’s one hooker under the table of an Italian restaurant away from a lifetime ban.

I haven’t followed it that much cuz that’s not my coach or program but I’m not sure that he’s been directly connected to anything in the NCAA’s eyes. And he’d have to be a complete idiot to try anything again if that were the case.

If they hire Pitino they will have to take the Saint out of their names and just call themselves the “Johns”

Why do people want a man who condoned and permitted prostitutes to have sex with minors to get a head coaching job? He should never coach in America again!!
