Slice to leave Kentucky

According to Evan Daniels of, it looks like Kentucky will be in the hunt for another assistant coach.

Daniels reported that Barry “Slice” Rohrssen is finalizing a deal to become an Assistant Coach at St. John’s under newly hired Chris Mullin.

Many have suggested that the move would make sense. Slice is from Brooklyn, attended Xaverian High in Brooklyn, and is good friends with St. John’s head coach, Chris Mullin.

Rohrrssen is credited with recruiting Roselle Catholic High School (Union, N.J.) point guard Isaiah Briscoe to UK.

Daniels suggests that Tony Barbee will possibly take Slice’s place and become a full-time assistant coach at Kentucky.

Is it possible that we could lose Briscoe and be out of the hunt for Chuck?

As the commenter below said, he signed his LOI so he can’t back out. I don’t know how heavily our recruitment of Check (sp?) depends on Slice.

This stinks, but Cal always finds good replacements. Problem is, Barbee did a horrible job of recruiting at Auburn IMO. The prevailing opinion around here (I live in Montgomery) is that he was not a good promoter of the program at all. I hope he does better at UK. Maybe Cal’s marketing savvy will rub off more than it did at UMASS or Memphis.

Hurts are chances a bit with Diallo I assume. Brisco signed his LOI and I’m sure he still wants to be on the number one team haha! Is it possible “Slice” came for one year to learn precious UK basketball secrets???????

Just hope it does not kill us with Diallo as he is the only unsigned big that can make a real difference next year. Cal needs to step up and take the lead to show that young man how bad he and UK wants him. Really afraid Diallo will now go to St Johns as well.

I can’t imagine being so miserable that my only activity was to troll on a website for something that I hate. Must be a tough existence. Troll on, if that makes you happy. Just be aware that it is, in fact, very, very sad.
