Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Declares for NBA Draft

Kentucky point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander announced on SportsCenter he will forego his college eligibility, hire an agent and declare for the 2018 NBA Draft.

Following a phenomenal freshman season, Shai’s move is not a surprising one.  An unheralded four-star recruit from Canada, Gilgeous-Alexander earned All-SEC honors before taking home MVP honors from the SEC Tournament in St. Louis.  Now he’s a future lottery pick, projected to go No. 12 overall by ESPN.

Gilgeous-Alexander is the third Wildcat to enter the 2018 NBA Draft, following P.J. Washington and Kevin Knox.  Good luck and thanks, Shai.

Happy for the guy but is it necessary to go on Espn and announce it? I just think that if u do you are asking for attention. That’s just me though

Considering he’s now a professional basketball player and wants attention from teams, agents and sponsors, I’d assume that’s the point.

It’s an AMAZING opportunity, and also free U.K. Commercial for recruits—-here’s a guard who came in without all the All-American hoopla, and worked his way into a lottery pick, thanks to the staff’s player development!

Congrats to him and I hope he and Knox both get drafted to the right team and have great careers.

I’ve heard online that the deadline to enter the draft is tomorrow (versus deadline to withdraw is 10 days after Combine). Are Hami, Vanderbilt, Gabriel and even Richards putting out any indications that they’ll enter?

Congratulations to SGA. And I remember at the beginning of the year we were talking about how he would probably be here 4 years. Cal did an excellent job of developing him into a potential lottery pick.

WTF?? I thought P.J. was just “testing the waters”, and hoping to at least work out at the NBA Combine. That’s a FAR cry from entering the draft. Dammit, Nick…get your stuff together son.
