Who up, St. Louis!
Welcome to the very first edition of my SEC Notebook from the 2018 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament here in the prestigious Scottrade Center, home to the St. Louis Blues and the 2012 Royal Rumble. I caught an early case of the SEC FEVER this week so I’m already in my courtside seat, between Andy Kennedy and Jerry Tipton, for the Wednesday session of college basketball’s best tournament. Some will tell you it’s not, and that the ACC is the best tournament; and those some are liars. The Southeastern Conference is king. Get you some.
Anyway, Georgia and Vanderbilt just tipped off the tournament in the exciting 12/13 match-up of the first round, with Missouri awaiting the victor. I can’t tell you a lot about what will happen this game (considering I wasn’t sure which two teams were playing until I got here) but I can tell you Blue already got in. Kentucky fans carry the Night 1 crowd.
I don’t have a lot more to add at this time, but there is plenty more to come in the days ahead. I will write new SEC Notebook entries whenever I get the time or have something new to show you; until then, check out the amazing view of the St. Louis arch from my hotel window.
Now I see why that call it the Gateway City!
I’ll be back soon with more from St. Louie. You can follow me on Twitter at @DrewFranklinKSR or on Instagram and SnapChat at @drew_franklin. I’ll take you behind the scenes all week long, once the action really gets going (probably tomorrow).
Time to sneak into the hospitality party. Go Cats.
