Former five-star prospect Scottie Lewis will be returning to Florida for a sophomore season.

This morning, the 6-foot-5 guard out of Hazlet, NJ announced he would be putting his NBA dreams on hold for another year and returning to Gainesville.

“Gator Nation, as you all know we have some unfinished business! Our season was cut short, and we were not able to complete our season that we were supposed to,” Lewis said in an official statement released on his social media page. “My dream of playing in the NBA is still a top priority, but my heart is in Gainesville!

“With that being said, I am more than happy to announce that I will be returning for the 2020-21 season. I want to thank my teammates, my coaching staff and most importantly my family for their unconditional love and support throughout this entire process! I am excited for the journey that lies ahead. My story hasn’t even started and trust me THE BEST IS YET TO COME!”

As a freshman, Lewis averaged 8.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per contest in 30 games played. To close out the year, the former five-star prospect finished in double figures in three of his last four games, including a career-high 19 points in the regular season finale against Kentucky.

A former top-ten prospect, Lewis chose the Gators over Kentucky, among 24 total scholarship offers, in the class of 2019.

Always stings a little more when our entire team leaves and other guys return to their school

If he would have had Maxey’s stats, he’d be gone. If he came to UK as a top 10 and put up those numbers, he’d be crucified.
