Rick Pitino’s debut at Iona postponed due to COVID

We’re going to have to wait a little bit longer to see Rick Pitino’s return to college basketball. Adam Zagoria is reporting that Iona is shutting down practice for two weeks after a member of the support staff tested positive for COVID-19. Per Zagoria, the Gaels’ first four games may be canceled. They were scheduled to open the season at Fordham on Nov. 25 and participate in the Mohegan Sun multi-team event Nov. 29-Dec. 2.

Per the NCAA’s coronavirus guidelines, when one “Tier 1” individual (e.g. players, coaches, trainers, physical therapists, medical staff, equipment staff, officials) tests positive, all other Tier 1 individuals must quarantine for 14 days.

And so it begins.
